The Utah Highway Patrol says a stretch of Interstate 80 near Tooele has reopened after a semitrailer carrying broccoli crashed and scattered about 300 pounds of the vegetable across the road.
Trooper Brandon Alsop says one wall of the semitrailer was torn off after the truck struck a cement barrier on the side of the highway around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Alsop says the truck driver was not injured.
He says another car that swerved to avoid the debris and broccoli crashed and rolled over.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital but was expected to recover.
It took crews several hours to clear the highway before it could be reopened Wednesday morning.
