Columbus, OH : Woman killed in SUV/COTA bus crash on August 6th 2014
A Columbus woman died early yesterday after her SUV rear-ended a stopped COTA bus on the Near East Side.
Latoya L. Davis, 28, died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center shortly after the 6:52 a.m. crash on Bryden Road at Fairwood Avenue.
Detectives with the Columbus police accident-investigation unit said bus driver Toya Russell, 42, of Columbus, had stopped her westbound bus just east of Fairwood Avenue to pick up passengers.
Before Russell resumed her No. 11 route, the stopped bus was struck from behind by Davis’ Saturn Vue, police said. Russell and her bus passengers were not injured.
Sgt. Brooke Wilson of the accident-investigation unit said last night that Davis, whose last known address was on the North Side, was on her way home after working an overnight shift at a fast-food restaurant.
