Dayton ,OH : 15 - Years old girl Seriously injured and 7 months old baby unharmed hit from the side when another driver ran a red light on Monday morning , March 2nd 2015
A 7-month-old baby is unharmed after being thrown more than seven metres from a van during a serious roadway accident that involved a van, a car and a semi-trailer.
According to witnesses, the van carrying Madison, her mother Lashanda Goldsmith, and a 15-year-old girl was hit from the side when another driver ran a red light on Monday morning near Dayton, Ohio.
"When they flipped her over they thought she was dead," Madison's relative Alicia Lewis told WHIO.
Madison's eyes were closed and her car seat was positioned upside down. Rescuers turned the car seat over and moments later, Madison opened her eyes.
"They said her eyes were closed, literally closed and she was face down in the car seat," Lewis said. "Then they said her eyes opened and she started smiling."
Madison is virtually unharmed save for a small bruise on her head, the station reported.
But others in the accident suffered more serious injuries. Five people were injured in total including the 15-year-old girl who was in the same van as Madison. She was in serious condition on Wednesday.
Madison's mother also suffered some minor injuries but was released from the hospital later on Monday afternoon.
"Looking at [Madison] like, wow, she doesn't even know what's going on," Lewis said. "She was the one in the trauma and we're traumatised but she's not."
