An Independence mother of three was killed Saturday in a two-vehicle accident in northern Lee’s Summit that left eight others injured.

Tracy Pycior, 36, died in the accident that happened about 4:15 Saturday at the intersection of Leinweber Road and Todd George Road, between Interstate 470 and Fleming Park.

According to Lee’s Summit police, a Chevrolet Express passenger van with 12 occupants – four adults and eight children – was traveling west on Leinweber when it failed to stop for the stop sign at Todd George and was a struck GMC pickup truck northbound on Todd George. The impact caused both vehicles to spin in the road and three people from the van, including Pycior, to be ejected.

The truck had three occupants, one of whom was taken to the hospital with injuries. Pycior, who was a passenger, and eight others in the van were taken to the hospital, with injuries ranging from minor to serious, police said. Pycior was pronounced dead at the hospital. Most others were treated and have been released.

A friend of Pycior’s has set up a gofundme.com page to assist with expenses related to her death. The gofundme page describes Pycior as a mother of three.
