Hammond, IN : Driver injured following crash in Hammond on Friday, May 20, 2016

A driver was hospitalized Friday after a car became lodged under a semi, police said.

Hammond Police Department Lt. Richard Hoyda said the crash happened at 4:18 p.m. Friday in the 6500 block of Indianapolis Boulevard. During the crash, a Toyota Camry became lodged under a semitrailer.

The driver of the Camry was transported to a local hospital for treatment, Hoyda said. There wasn't information about the severity of the person's injuries. The truck driver was not hospitalized.

It was unclear Friday how the crash happened. The incident remained under investigation.
