Staten Island ,NY : One dead, another critically injured after car crashes into pole on Sunday night ,July 26th 2015

A 19-year-old woman died and another woman was critically injured when the car they were passengers in crashed into a pole in Staten Island Sunday night, authorities said.

The car was heading north on Richmond Ave. when it lost control and slammed into a light pole near the intersection of Richmond Hill Ave. around 10:45 p.m., witnesses said.

One woman, who appeared to be a backseat passenger, was thrown from the car and another woman was thrown into the back of the Mitsubishi hatchback and appeared to be unconscious, witnesses said.

The driver and a front passenger both climbed out of the front of the car, the witnesses said.
