Dubois County, IN : One person died in a crash on Highway 56, west of Ireland on Tuesday, March 7, 2017

Dubois County Sheriff Donald Lampert confirms to us that one person is dead after a crash.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Eastern on Highway 56, just west of Ireland.

Sheriff Lampert says a man was crossing the road and was hit by a truck. The man died at the scene.

The driver of the truck told authorities he saw the man, tried to avoid him, but it was too late.

That driver was taken to Memorial Hospital and as of now, it appears no charges will be filed.

The name of the victim has not been released.
