Thonotosassa, FL : Hillsborough woman dead after crashing into tree on Morris Bridge Road on Thursday, March 17, 2016
A woman died Thursday after crossing over into oncoming traffic and hitting a tree, deputies say.
It was about 4:45 p.m. when Delores Cooper, 48, of Thonotosassa, was driving her Honda CRV southbound on Morris Bridge Road and crossed the center line and struck the side of a Hyundai Genesis, driven by Michael C. Davis.
Cooper then continued through the northbound lane and eventually left the roadway, striking an oak tree head on, deputies said.
She was taken by Tampa Fire Rescue to Florida Hospital in Wesley Chapel, where she was pronounced dead. Both Davis and the passenger of the car Cooper struck were uninjured.
Deputies say alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident.
