SMITHSBURG ,WA : Three injured in Washington County motorcycle crash on July, Saturday 15th 2017
Three people were sent to hospitals Saturday afternoon after a motorcycle accident on Md. 491, or Raven Rock Road, east of Smithsburg, Maryland State Police said.
Two 2006 Suzuki motorcycles were traveling north on Raven Rock Road "at an extreme high rate of speed," one behind the other, at 1:11 p.m., according to a state police news release.
The lead motorcycle, driven by Alishia Nicole Harvey of Chestnut Street in Hagerstown, "failed to negotiate a sharp curve and left the roadway and collided with the guardrail on the right side of the roadway" south of Ritchie Road, the release said.
Harvey was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the right shoulder of the road, police said.
The second motorcycle, driven by Justin David Hoover of Daycotah Avenue in Hagerstown, "failed to slow in time and collided with the first motorcycle that had come to rest in the roadway," the release said.
Hoover and a passenger, Lauren Nicole Row of Rohrersville Road, were thrown from the motorcycle, police said.
Hoover and Row weren’t listed as patients at Meritus on Saturday night, said Joelle Butler, a hospital spokeswoman.
Harvey was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and Hoover and Row were taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, the release said.
The crash remains under investigation.
