GREENVILLE, SC : Deputy injured in crash released from hospital on Thursday, November, 16th 2017

A deputy injured when his squad car went off the side of a Greenville road was released from the hospital Thursday morning, according to Greenville County Sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Flood.
The crash happened Thursday just after 9 p.m. on Poinsett Highway at Roe Ford Road, South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Hovis said.
The deputy, whose name is not being released, was responding after deputies called for emergency back up to another call where deputies were struggling with a person, Flood said.
The deputy responded with lights and sirens on Poinsett Highway and ran off the right side of the road, striking several trees, Flood said.
The deputy was injured and taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital by EMS, Hovis said.
Flood said the deputy is "pretty banged up, but he's going to be okay."
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Flood said.
