Laurens, SC : Two young women killed and another seriously injured in a one-car wreck in Laurens County on Thursday morning, March 19, 2015

The Laurens County Coroner's Office was called to the scene of a double-fatal wreck early Thursday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the collision occurred on SC-127 at S. Harper Street Extension about 4:18 a.m.

SC-127 was closed for several hours as crews investigated the crash, but the roadway has reopened. Drivers should use caution in the area.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said three people were traveling in a Vokswagen on SC-127 when they ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Laurens County Coroner Vickie Cheeks said the driver, Chelsea Calvert, 22, was entrapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The rear passenger, Kayla Stephenson, 19, was not seat belted and also died at the scene. Cheeks said both victims suffered multiple blunt force trauma.

A front seat passenger, a 20-year-old female, was not seat belted and was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital. The condition of the passenger has not yet been released.

Cheeks said the women were headed home from work when the crash occurred.
