Lee, NY : Man dies in a one-car accident in Oneida County Friday night, August 12, 2016

A Lee Center man died as a result of injuries sustained in a one-car accident Friday night, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 8:45 p.m., Donald F. Perusse, 62, was northbound on Harris Road at a high rate of speed when he drove across the intersection of Harris and Streun road and into a large tree, deputies said.

Several witnesses arrived at the scene after hearing the collision and were able to remove Perusse from the Jeep, which caught fire.

Perusse was transported via AmCare Ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for treatment.

He was later transported from Rome Memorial Hospital to Upstate University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Lee Center Fire Department.

The accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
