MUNCIE, IN : One killed in U.S. 35 crash in Delaware County on Thursday, 23rd January, 2020

A Muncie man was killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 35 in southeastern Delaware County.

The accident, involving a semi-tractor trailer and a car, was reported about 7:40 p.m. in the 11700 block of South U.S. 35, near the unincorporated community of Mount Pleasant.

It was initially reported that a person was entrapped in the car. A few minutes later, dispatch traffic indicated that man — Thomas Bennie Pinkston, 51, of Muncie — had died.

Traffic on the federal highway was shut down for several hours. Motorists were being diverted at U.S. 36 near Losantville, and near the Mount Pleasant grocery store.

Jeff Stanley, chief deputy for the sheriff's department, said its crash team and a chaplain were sent to the scene.
