Callahan, FL : Three people injured after Nassau County crash on Saturday, February 14, 2015
A 14 year old girl is in critical condition this morning after being ejected from a car Saturday. It happened on Lem Turner Road and Dornbush near the Nassau County line just before 7:00 p.m. Florida Highway Patrol says both lanes of Lem Turner had to be shut down for at least two hours.
FHP says 66 year old Doris Rittenhouse was driving a 2002 Kia Spectra east on Dornbush Road just west of State Road 115. 17 year old Sabrina Miller was traveling south on State Road 115 in a 2006 Chevy Equinox just north of Dornbush Road. Troopers say Rittenhouse failed to stop at the stop sign on Dornbush Road and the front of Millers vehicle struck the left side of Rittenhouse's car.
According to the report three people inside the car were ejected from the vehicle and transported to UF Health Jacksonville. According to FHP two of the three occupants are listed in stable condition. The third occupant, a 14 year old girl is listed in critical condition. The driver and occupants of the SUV had minor injuries.
Investigators say Rittenhouse did not have on a seatbelt, while Miller and the occupants of the other vehicle did. Right now investigators do not believe the crash is alcohol related. Rittenhouse is facing charges of failure to obey flashing red light signal, and failure to obey traffic control device-stopsign.
