FAIRMONT, WV : Car crashes into utility pole in the 1400 block of Beverly Road in Fairmont on Monday, 1st July 2019

An elderly couple wasn’t injured when their car crashed into a utility pole at 6:16 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of Beverly Road in Fairmont, according to a Fairmont Police Department patrolman.

The crash knocked the utility pole into a slanted position as it leaned over the car.

A resident, Ron Hendricks, who lives in the area where the accident occurred, heard the crash while inside his home.

He described it sounding like “a very loud bang.”

Hendricks said the occupants of the vehicle were unhurt, but nervous following the crash.

“It’s just sad to see that happen,” he said.
