NELSON COUNTY, VA : Man killed in Nelson County motorcycle crash on Sunday, 14th July 2024

Virginia State Police have released the name of a man killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday in Nelson County.

Francis M. Saunders III, 43 of Nellysford, died after being taken to a hospital.

The crash occurred at 7:46 p.m. July 14, 2024 on Rockfish Valley Highway. Police say Saunders was driving a Harley-Davidson FXDLS north on Rockfish Valley Highway at the intersection with Glenthorne Loop, went off the right side of the road, hit a roadbed, went airborne and struck a guardrail.

Saunders, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle.
