A 4-year-old Middleburg boy died Friday afternoon when a car and pickup truck collided on Florida 16 at County Road 315-A in Clay County.
Jason Gallion was a passenger in a car driven by Jennifer Elizabeth King, 29, also of Middleburg. Their car collided with a pickup driven by Carlton Silcox Jr., 69, also of Middleburg about 3:19 p.m. Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jason died at the scene. He had been a rear passenger and was restrained by safety equipment in the car. King and Silcox each sustained serious injuries, and were taken to Orange Park Medical Center. King had been wearing her safety belt but Silcox wasn’t wearing his, the Highway Patrol said.
King was driving east on Florida 16 and Silcox was westbound. She lost control of the Pontiac Vibe, veered onto the highway shoulder then over-corrected and crossed over into the path of the Ford Ranger driven by Silcox resulting in the collision according to the Highway Patrol.
