GREENWICH, CT : Greenwich man charged with assault on elderly on Friday, December 9, 2016
A Greenwich man was charged with assault on a senior citizen following a motor-vehicle accident.
Officers were called to Arch Street and Greenwich Plaza Friday afternoon about a pedestrian involved in an collision with a car. Police said the pedestrian, Benedito Barbosa, 47, of Prospect Street, was knocked down by the vehicle near Greenwich Plaza. After he got to his feet, he struck the driver, a 64-year-old male, in the head, according to the arrest report. The incident was witnessed by a Greenwich firefighter, according to police.
“As a result, the victim sustained a minor injury that required medical attention,” the arrest report states.
Barbosa was walking with a bike when he was struck by the vehicle, a 2008 Ford Edge.
Barbosa was charged with assault of an elderly person and breach of peace. Bail was set at $10,000.
