LaFollette, TN : A single-vehicle crash on Hwy 116 in Campbell County on Thursday, 5th April 2018

Lonnie R. Williams, Jr., 55, of Knoxville was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 116 in Campbell County overnight, according to a fatality report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol today.

According to the report, the crash occurred at around 12:37 a.m. at the intersection of Cherry Brook Lane in Rocky Top.

The report states that Williams was traveling south on Hwy 116 in a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. He failed to maintain his lane of travel and went off of the right side of the roadway.

His vehicle struck the side of a bridge before coming to a final rest.

Williams was not wearing a safety belt. It is the opinion of reporting officer Trooper Steven Ward that safety restraints would have made a difference.

Williams was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
