Greenwood, South Carolina
Among four dead after a head-on wreck in York County is a 5-year-old child and two others from Laurens, according to the state Highway Patrol.
All four people died at the scene of the wreck at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, said trooper Joe Hovis with the Highway Patrol. 39-year-old Patchell Daniels, 60-year-old Jim Edward Daniels, and their 5-year-old son Michaiah Daniels, all of Laurens, died in one of the vehicles, the Associated Press reported.
The driver of the other vehicle was Mitchell Alexander Jeter, 23, of Rock Hill, the AP reported.
Daniels was driving a 1995 Pontiac with the two others from Laurens south along Church Street in McConnells, 4.6 miles south of York, Hovis said. Jeter was driving a 2004 Honda north when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and crossed the centerline, hitting the Pontiac head on, Hovis said.
The Highway Patrol MAIT team is investigating the wreck.
