BUFFALO, NY : No charges filed against officer involved in fatal crash on Thursday, 20th December 2018
The New York State Attorney General’s office says it will not file criminal charges against a Buffalo police officer who struck and killed a woman with his patrol car while responding to a call.
In a statement Thursday, the attorney general’s office says the March crash was a “tragic accident” and criminal charges were “not justified.”
Authorities say Officer Daniel Ahearn was responding to a call in the early morning when he struck and killed 64-year-old Susan LoTempio.
The attorney general’s office says visibility was poor, and LoTempio was wearing dark clothing and crossed in an area that didn’t have a crosswalk.
Ahearn did not have his emergency lights or siren on at the time because he was responding to a non-emergency call.
