SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA : 3 hurt after garbage truck topples off I-80 during crash on Monday, 3rd June 2019

Three people were hurt after a crash caused a garbage truck to go off westbound Interstate 80 and down an embankment Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The truck hit a broken-down Dodge Durango that was in the emergency lane near Northgate Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol's North Sacramento office.The garbage truck then careened through the guardrail and went down an embankment, the CHP said.

The driver of the garbage truck, a man in his 50s, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries, authorities said.

Two people who were standing by the Durango were hit by the SUV and pushed down the embankment. They have minor injuries, the CHP said.
