Jacksonville, NC : No injuries in military vehicle crash on Monday, August 18, 2014
Jacksonville, North Carolina
Authorities say a Monday crash involving a military vehicle didn’t result in injuries, but the Marine Corps will investigate what happened.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the vehicle ran off the road to the right, where it struck a ditch and flipped onto its right side. There were two people involved in the single-vehicle crash, which closed N.C. 210 near N.C. 172 in both directions.
The wreck took place at 2:59 p.m. across from the McDonald’s on N.C. 210. The Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Camp Lejeune Fire Department both responded to the crash.
Speed and alcohol were not factors, and the wreck is not currently under investigation by local authorities, according to Trooper Jonathan Acuna.
Lt. Col. Cliff Gilmore, the spokesman for II Marine Expeditionary Force, said that the base will continue with its own investigation into what happened.
