Citrus County, FL : West Virginia woman killed in a crash on U.S. 41 in the Citrus Springs area Friday morning, March 31, 2017

A West Virginia woman was killed Friday morning when she drove her car in front of an oncoming pickup truck on U.S. 41 in the Citrus Springs area.

Driving a Honda Accord, Rebecca Ann Rogers, 63, of Beaver, West Virginia, and her 64-year-old passenger, Deborah Lee Lilly, of Shady Spring, West Virginia, were waiting at a stop sign on West Country Club Boulevard at the intersection with U.S. 41, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Darryl Wayne Goodman, 27, of Dunnellon, was driving a Chevy S-10 pickup truck south on U.S. 41, approaching the intersection with West Country Club Boulevard.

At about 6:05 a.m., Rogers proceeded to drive onto U.S. 41 and into the path of Goodman’s truck, which collided with Roger’s car.

Rogers, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lilly, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Goodman, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered serious injuries and was transported to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash, according to the FHP.
