Milwaukee, WI : Two Milwaukee police officers injured in crash on Thursday morning, November 6, 2014

Two Milwaukee police officers were injured after their squad car crashed into a vehicle Thursday morning. The officers, a 39-year-old woman with 14 years of service and a 43-year-old woman with 13 years of service, were driving west on Silver Spring Drive and approaching N. 79th St. when the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra attempted to turn northbound in front of the squad, according to a police news release. The driver of the Hyundai could not see around a stopped truck in front of it and sped up in an attempt to get across traffic, driving directly in front of the officers' squad car, police said. The officers hit the Elantra, whose driver, an 85-year-old woman, was uninjured. The officers were injured and taken to a hospital. Officials said they are expected to be released Thursday evening. The female driver was cited for failure to yield. Source : Milwaukee police officers injured in crash
