Marco Island, FL : Three Police Officers injured after two crashes involving the same driver on Thursday evening, February 5, 2015

A man was arrested after causing two crashes in Marco Island Thursday evening. One crash involved Marco Island Police vehicles.

According the police department officials, the first crash occurred on N. Collier Boulevard and Bald Eagle Drive at around 6 p.m.

Police say the driver struck a pole and caused a chain reaction with two other vehicles. While police were trying to help seven people out of the other two vehicles, the driver that caused the crash took off on Bald Eagle Drive.

The driver went through a parking lot to avoid police who were speeding after him. During the pursuit, the driver struck a police vehicle and continued driving into a cemetery. He then struck two more police vehicles as he exited the cemetery on Elckam Circle.

The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Three Marco Island Police officers sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating the both crashes.
