Longwood ,FL: Two people in custody after they fled from officers and crashed their vehicle and one woman injured along Interstate 4 on Sunday ,march 15th 2015

Police took two men into custody after they fled from officers and crashed their vehicle on Interstate 4, investigators said.

Police said they were called at 12:15 p.m. after someone stole a carton of cigarettes from a Walgreens on Country Road 46-A in Lake Mary.

Police followed the suspect vehicle but broke off the chase when the suspects sped up.

"Lake Mary's policy is that we do not pursue in crimes that are not violent and do not pose a serious risk of injury to the public," said Bianca Gillett, with the Lake Mary Police Department.

The driver lost control of the vehicle on I-4 in Longwood, crashing in the median. Police said two men ran into the Sleepy Hollow subdivision.
