PORTLAND, TN : Man hit, killed on I-65 in Robertson County on Monday, 26th February 2024

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly incident involving a person getting struck by a tractor-trailer on the interstate near Portland.

According to THP, 37-year-old Thomas Shack was traveling north on I-65 when he was involved in a crash and entered the median at mile marker 116. Shack then exited the vehicle and was hit by a semi while attempting to cross the southbound lanes around 8:30 p.m.

Shack was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 37-year-old Anterrio Jones, of Louisiana, was injured in the crash. The severity of his injuries is unknown.

The interstate was backed up for miles in both directions while THP investigated the incident.
