Raisin City, CA : Two people dead and two others injured after a crash in Fresno County on Saturday afternoon, April 30, 2016

Two people are dead and two others are being treated in the hospital after the driver of their vehicle failed to stop at an intersection Saturday afternoon in Fresno County northwest of Raisin City.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Manuel Peregrina said officers responded around 5:52 p.m. to the area of Henderson Road and Lincoln Avenue after a gray Pontiac Grand Am was broadsided by a blue Chevy S-10 pickup traveling west on Lincoln Avenue. Peregrina said there was no evidence that either driver braked prior to the collision.

A family in the pickup was not injured in the crash, but a small child was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons, Peregrina said.

In the Pontiac, the driver and left rear passenger were killed on impact, while the front and rear right passengers were transported to local hospitals and are expected to survive.

The front right passenger was airlifted and the rear right passenger was taken by ambulance.

The CHP is looking into whether drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

Peregrina said investigators could not say whether any of the vehicles involved were speeding.

“It’s hard to say why the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign,” Peregrina said.

Peregrina also said that intersection is the scene of many vehicle accidents.

There were no witnesses to the crash.

Names and ages of the victims were not immediately released pending notification of their families.
