Shiloh, IL : Tanker truck driver overturned on Interstate 64 in Shiloh early Friday fell asleep at the wheel.
Police have reopened westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near the Shiloh exit following a tanker truck crash early Friday.
All lanes reopened by midday, authorities said.
The truck crashed at about 2 a.m. Friday at the Shiloh-Green Mount exit. The westbound lanes of I-64 were closed from exit 16 to exit 19.
The truck leaked a small amount of fuel, but no one was evacuated in the area, according to the Illinois State Police.
Illinois State Police Sgt. Neil Lohman said the tanker truck was heading east on I-64 when it drove through the median and entered the westbound lanes. Lohman said the truck overturned in the westbound lanes.
O'Fallon firefighters and EMS helped the injured driver, who was transported to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.
A hazardous materials team cleaned up the fuel spill. Lohman said there were no creeks or other waterways nearby that were threatened. He said there was no danger to residents.
