Dayton,OH : Man killed in Greene County car accident identified on June, Friday 9th 2017

One person is dead in a car accident Friday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the victim as Walter V. Cherwinski, 88, of Centerville, Ohio. Cherwinski was traveling northbound on State Route 72 near mile post 11 when he crashed at approximately 5:05 p.m. Friday.

It happened near the intersection of State Route 72 and Wolford Road in Greene County.

A witness says Cherwinski was going side to side on the highway when he swerved into a pole.

Officials say the pole is split in half and DP&L says they will check it out.

A medical expert performed CPR on a victim but The Greene County Coroner confirmed that the man died at the scene.

He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
