Galax, VA : Juvenile charged in Railroad Ave. crash on Thursday, March 9th 2017

A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and E. Grayson Street left one vehicle a total loss, according to Galax Police Capt. James Cox.

A 2004 Peterbuilt 330 truck, operated by a Galax juvenile, was traveling west on Grayson Street and attempted to turn south onto Railroad, when it turned into the path of a 1989 Buick LeSabre operated by Ricky Lynn Bell, 59, of Fancy Gap, traveling east on Grayson, and struck it.

The Galax Volunteer Fire Department and Galax-Grayson EMS were called to the scene to extricate Bell, who was transported to Twin County Regional Hospital for treatment.

Damage to the Peterbuilt was estimated at $500. The Buick was considered a total loss.

The juvenile was charged with failure to yield right of way and operating a commercial vehicle without a commercial driver’s license.
