CHARLTON, MA : One killed in crash on Mass Pike in Charlton on Wednesday, 3rd October 2018

A 51-year-old Springfield man died when the van he was driving rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the Massachusetts Turnpike early Thursday, according to state police.

The crash occurred about 3:40 a.m. in the westbound lanes, before the Interstate 84 interchange.

According to state police, a tractor-trailer came to a stop in the middle lane at a construction zone. A van then slammed into the rear of the truck, killing the driver, police said. The van driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
