BELLE GLADE, FL : Belle Glade man killed in single-car accident on a darkened stretch of State Road 715 on Friday, 20th December, 2019

A 53-year-old man died in a single-car accident late Friday on a darkened stretch of State Road 715.

Maurice Cromer of Belle Glade was driving southbound near Hatcher Road around 11 p.m. when his 1993 Dodge Dakota veered off to the right and then to the left over two lanes of roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car crossed the north grass shoulder and began to overturn, becoming airborne. It came to a rest on its left side in a canal.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident is under investigation.
