SAN SIMON, AZ : A man killed in an ATV crash on April, Thursday 20th 2017

Cochise County Sheriff’s officials have identified a man killed in an ATV crash near San Simon.

They say 26-year-old Tye Humphreys was trapped under his all-terrain vehicle south of San Simon.

His passenger walked to a nearby house to get help.

Emergency personnel from the sheriff’s department and the San Simon Fire Department responded to the scene and found Humphreys dead.

The passenger — a 43-year-old Safford man — was airlifted to a Tucson hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Authorities say the crash occurred on a washed-out trail that is used by ATV riders and is difficult to gain access to with other vehicles.

Sheriff’s officials say they are investigating the fatal crash.
