Two women and a small child were transported to a local hospital Thursday night after a serious three-car crash in Providence.

The crash, involving two cars and one truck, took place just after 7 p.m. at 1700 South on State Road 165.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said the driver of a Dodge truck accelerated to travel southbound through a yellow light. At the same time, the driver of a small passenger car made a lefthand turn in front of the truck, Perry said.

The truck struck the passenger side of the car, and a third vehicle waiting to turn south was caught in the collision.

Perry said the woman in the car and the small child with her were both transported to Salt Lake area hospitals in extremely critical condition. The woman driving the truck was also transported to the hospital with broken bones, he said.
