Victoria, TX : LaSalle woman dies in head-on collision on US 59 South on Thursday morning, July 28, 2016

A LaSalle woman died as the result of a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 59 South on Thursday morning.

The woman was driving a tan Chevrolet Lumina north in the southbound lane of the highway. She was in the inside lane when her car crashed head on with a white GMC truck about a fourth mile north of the Farm-to-Market Road 1686 exit, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephen Gray. The wreck occurred around 7:45 a.m. to 8:19 a.m.

As the truck spun out of control toward the median, it hit another white pickup truck with a trailer on the driver side and dented the driver door.

The truck that spun out ended on its top in the median.

The driver of the truck that spun was Santos Hernandez, of Houston. A woman was a passenger in the truck but her identification was not released.

Gray said the older woman, Hernandez and the woman passenger were transported to Citizens Medical Center.

People in the truck with the trailer were not injured.

The deceased woman’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
