A driver and a passenger were injured Monday near East Grand Forks after a vehicle they were in went airborne before rolling onto its roof.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded at 8:40 p.m. to a crash on State Highway 220 about 5 miles southeast of East Grand Forks, where they found a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe on its roof.
An unnamed 17-year-old male driver was traveling north on the highway when it went into the west ditch, according to a crash report. The vehicle hit an approach, vaulted about 30 yards then went rolling end-over-end before coming to rest on its roof, the report stated.
The passenger, 38-year-old Angela Aaker Holt, was ejected from the vehicle. Both Holt and the driver were taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for treatment for their injuries.
Alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the Patrol.
It’s unknown if the two were wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
