ELIZABETH CITY, NC : Lexus driver crashes into NC cafe on Saturday, December 10th, 2016

Police responded to North Water Street Saturday morning after a vehicle struck a building and hit a pole.According to the Elizabeth City Police, officers were to the 100 block of North Water Street at 11:57 a.m.
Upon arrival, they found a 2010 silver Lexus that was traveling northbound on Water Street hit the front of Flour Girls Cafe and Bakery. The vehicle also backed into the utility pole before coming to rest.
An investigation revealed that 87-year-old Elmer Ray Etheridge, of Shawboro, North Carolina, was driving the Lexus, officials said.
Etheridge was checked out on scene by Pasquotank County EMS and released with no injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The Elizabeth City Fire Department personnel assessed the building’s damage and cleared the building for business.
There is no word on whether charges are pending.
