FORT MYERS, FL : Veteran killed after being hit by car on Colonial Boulevard on Monday, January, 29th 2018

A veteran was killed on Colonial Boulevard near Ortiz Avenue on Monday morning after getting struck by a vehicle.

Traffic was blocked going westbound towards Fort Myers coming from Lehigh as a result.

Traffic has since reopened.

Authorities were diverting traffic through Colonial Central Drive.

Traffic into Lehigh Acres from Fort Myers was moving all morning.

Police said the person was walking across the road when he was hit.

Fort Myers Police tell NBC2 the crash remains under investigation, and they’re identifying the victim and notifying family; however, at this time, it does not appear criminal in nature and no charges are expected.
