Dallas, TX : 2 dead, 10 injured in Caldwell county SUV rollover crash on a Central Texas highway Saturday afternoon, August 2, 2014
Two Dallas women were killed and 10 others were injured when they crashed on a Central Texas highway Saturday afternoon.
The driver, 31-year-old Veronica Razo, and a passenger, 27-year-old Sonia Ramirez, were killed while heading south with their children and family members on State Highway 130 in Caldwell County, just north of Lockhart.
The crash occurred Saturday shortly after 11-30 a.m. when tread from the right tire on the family’s sport utility vehicle peeled off, causing Razo to veer off the roadway and roll multiple times, authorities say.
No one in the car was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to state Trooper Robbie Barrera.
There were 10 other passengers in the car, including five children who all suffered serious injuries. The youngest of the group, a 2-year-old girl, was in critical condition. Among the other adult passengers, one suffered serious injuries, two were in stable condition and one’s condition is unknown.
All of the victims were taken to local hospitals where they are still receiving treatment.
State troopers are still investigating the crash.
