Hanover. IN : 1 killed, 2 hurt in morning crash on 56 at Amber Waves on Tuesday, 31st July 2018

One person was killed and two people were seriously injured in a two-car collision about 7:30 this morning, said Hanover Police Marshall Josh Taylor, who responded to the scene at Amber Waves Boulevard and Indiana 56 near Hanover. Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace said the driver of one of the vehicles, a sedan, was dead when first responders arrived. A passenger in the sedan and the driver of the other vehicle involved, a van, both suffered “very serious injuries” and were taken to Louisville for treatment. Indiana State Police were at the scene this morning to reconstruct the crash to try to determine the cause. Indiana 56 was closed from Amber Waves Boulevard to the junction of Indiana 56 and Indiana 256 for several hours because of the accident. Identification of the driver who died was not available at press time. The Hanover Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Coroner, King’s Daughters Hospital EMS, Hanover Volunteer Fire Department, Hanover Township Fire Department and Madison Fire Department responded to the crash.
