Motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 5 near Sassafras Street

A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday in a crash on Interstate 5 near Sassafras Street.

The accident was reported in the northbound lanes about 12:50 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The rider, who was on a Suzuki, died at the scene. His name has not been released.

All lanes of the highway were shut down until about 3:50 a.m. as authorities investigated, the CHP said.
