Pellham, MA : 20-year-old Windham man died after a crash on Windham Road on Friday afternoon, July 29, 2016

Police say a 20-year-old Windham man has died after an accident Friday afternoon on Windham Road.

Capt. Stephen Toom said Tuesday that William Pope died following the single-vehicle crash shortly before 1 p.m. The Hyundai sports utility vehicle he was driving slammed into a utility pole before overturning.

Pope was flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he died over the weekend, Toom said. The accident remains under investigation, including a report of a gunshot heard at the crash scene, he said.
