“We got the call this morning of a motor vehicle accident and that the vehicle was on fire,” said Fire Chief Clyde Locklear. “When we got on scene the Sheriff’s Office told us that it was possible that someone was in the vehicle, but by that time the fire had gone too far for us to be of any assistance to him.”
The blaze was particularly hot because of the presence of diesel fuel, according to Locklear. It took firefighters 20 minutes to get the fire completely under control, and no homes in the area were threatened.
Residents in the area heard the accident and called 911.
