ATTLEBORO, MA : driver of a SUV suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a crash on Friday, 20th April 2018

A driver of a SUV suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a crash Friday on Highland Avenue, according to police and fire officials who responded to the scene.

The driver, who officials did not identify, is believed to be a resident of North Attleboro, and was found outside of his vehicle when first responders arrived shortly before 9 p.m.

One of the first at the scene of the crash, an off-duty firefighter who did not want to be identified, said the driver was found outside of the vehicle, which had shattered on impact.

Police Capt. James MacDonald said the driver was heading toward Cumberland when the vehicle crossed over the opposite lane of travel, smashed into the George Family Orthodontist sign at 288 Highland Ave., spun around facing the opposite direction and then slammed into a fence.
