Two people were killed in a Wednesday afternoon accident in on Highway 73 in Chambers County, the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed.
Officials reported to the scene of the crash, the intersection of Highway 73 and County Line Road, around 1 p.m., a release from the department states. The crash happened one to two miles west of Highway 124.
According to the release, initial reports indicate that a Lincoln town car was traveling southbound on County Line Road when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver traveled onto Highway 73 and was hit by a truck tractor semi-trailer that was westbound on Highway 73, the release states.
DPS confirmed that the two deceased were the passengers in the Lincoln.
All eastbound traffic lanes of Highway 73 are closed, but westbound lanes remain open.
