Abilene, TX : Abilene man dies in 3-vehicle crash on I-20 in northeast Abilene on Friday, 11th January 2019

One person died in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 near West Lake Road in northeast Abilene on Friday afternoon.

Pronounced dead at the scene was William Randall Webb, 28, of Abilene. He was the driver of a 2009 F-250 Ford crew cab that crossed the median and struck an 18-wheeler, according to an Abilene Police Department report.

The pickup was westbound on I-20 when Webb apparently lost control. His vehicle went through the wire barrier and was broadsided by the eastbound semi. Webb, police reported, was wearing a seat belt but was ejected from the pickup due to severity of the impact.

The pickup then was struck by a 2006 Dodge Caravan, also eastbound.

There was one occupant in the semi and minivan.

Police did not provide the names of the other drivers, nor their conditions.

No citations were issued and the crash is under investigation.
