Terre Haute, IN : A two-vehicle accident on Friday, June 16, 2017
A two-vehicle accident that followed a traffic backup in the eastbound lanes of Interstate-70, seven miles east of Marshall in Clark County, injured four persons Friday afternoon.
According to Illinois State Police, a stopped or slowed semi-tractor-trailer driven by Ismael Rasool of Michigan was struck in the rear by a semi driven by Harvinder Sandhu of Canada at 5:28 p.m. CST.
ISP said Sandhu was injured and airlifted to Terre Haute Regional Hospital. A passenger in Sandhu's semi, Munish Kumar of Canada, was transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute by Marshall Ambulance Service. Rasool and a passenger in his semi, Ahmed Mugheer of Michigan, were taken to Regional Hospital via Marshall Ambulance Service.
Both eastbound lanes of I-70 were shut down for approximately four hours.
Sandhu was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
