Bend, OR : 1 student hurt in school bus crash near Bend on Saturday morning, November 22, 2014
Oregon State Police say one student received a minor injury when a school bus slid off a road west of Bend.
Authorities say six students and a driver, 55-year-old Russell Johnson, were on the bus when it slid off an embankment Saturday morning, rolled twice and came to rest against some trees about 50 feed from the road.
The bus was carrying the cross country team from Crook County High School, travelling from Prineville to the Mount Bachelor area. The station reports a 16-year-old boy had cuts on the back of his head.
Authorities say the student was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Bend.
Photos released by the state police show snowy conditions, but it was not immediately clear whether the road was icy or what caused the driver to lose control.
